International exchanges
Gifu College of Nursing carries out international exchange initiatives to gain a better understanding of the cutting-edge work being done overseas while looking at the ways that the practice of nursing contributes to lifelong learning -in terms of both its importance and methodology. These programs also provide opportunities for academic exchange on a global scale.
Our basic approach
Gifu College of Nursing International Exchange Policy
Since Gifu College of Nursing first opened in April 2000, our goal has been to turn out nursing professionals who can implement creative, innovative solutions that improve the quality of nursing services in Gifu Prefecture.
To achieve this goal, we have made it our policy to study best practices at overseas universities and research institutions around the world while participating in international exchange programs that foster greater interaction. Our International Exchange Committee takes the lead in regularly sending faculty to foreign universities to gather information and knowledge firsthand.
In 2004, we were selected for the Support Program for Advanced Overseas Education and Research offered by the Japan Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). The program allows us to study the current state of cutting-edge research and top-tier educational efforts overseas.
Even since becoming a public university corporation, we have actively promoted the following critical international exchange policies in order to (1) collect the information we need to interact and participate in joint academic projects with foreign universities and research institutions and (2) develop faculty members who have the international mindset they need to engage with a rapidly globalizing world.
1. Actively pursue academic exchanges internationally with universities and research institutions
・Academic exchanges among faculty members
・Educational exchanges among students
2. Actively share information with the rest of the world
・Enhanced English-language university pamphlets
・Enhanced English-language website
3. Broaden international perspectives
・Have faculty present their research findings at international conferences
・Promote joint research with foreign partners
